I can’t recommend this place. The room I was given smelled awful, and after I complained the second room smelled horrible too. Staff tried putting air freshener in it. When I switched on the AC, cockroaches fell out. There were still cigarette butts on the bathroom window, so I can’t say the room was clean. I wasn’t comfortable there, even though I stayed only a couple of hours.

There’s an elevator, a supermarket right across from the hotel, and a pub next door. The Fire Station is about 800 meters away. You can get there by public transport, and it’s a strategic location for people with a car. Finding a nearby restaurant in the evening and later can be difficult, though. The room was nice and the rate was cheaper. There’s a limited choice of TV channels, free parking with spaces on a first-come basis, and a MYR50.00 cash deposit is required at check-in.

The room was clean and well equipped, and for the price that was impressive enough. I picked this hotel because I had things to sort out near the hospital. It’s close to the hospital and still not too far behind IJM area. Parking is the main drawback, and finding a spot takes some luck.

It feels like living in a house, just without a kitchen. The room was neat, clean, and beautiful, and the service was convenient. The city is easy to reach since it isn’t too far away.

Sandakan Inn has made some good changes. If you’re after a humble, comfortable stay, this is the place to look for.
