We saw the 'big five' on the boat trips, orangutan, elephant, probiscus monkey, crocs and hornbills. Doing the evening cruise twice gave us more chances, so the 3D2N package is worth considering. The tours were well organized, the rooms comfortable, and I was happy with how clean and cozy the dorm was, with great Aircon. The company was accommodating and friendly. Be patient if rain cancels a tour for safety, having more time helps.
The food was buffet style, tasty, and there was plenty of choice and plenty to eat. Everyone on staff was kind and friendly, and our room was easily the nicest we’ve had during a couple of months travelling in SE Asia. We booked through seeksophie, and the room alone felt worth the price. We did the 3D2N trip and were lucky to see all of the Borneo 5, one of our best travel memories. Tanchong was a great guide, friendly and knowledgeable, and excellent at spotting and identifying animals. The resort is in a rainforest, so rooms can be loud when it rains. I can’t fault the trip or the place.
The staff at the resort were super friendly, and the food, guide and organization were all really good. We did the 3D 2N and had an incredible experience. Two things let it down for me. First, the hot showers stopped working, so we had cold showers for all three days, which we really missed after a cold, rainy day. Second, I emailed the resort to arrange a surprise for my partner. Miss Yanaa replied once about my booking, but then never answered three more emails. I eventually found a WhatsApp number for the agency, and a kind person helped me. That lack of response made me mad.
Elephants turned up in the camp while we were there, which was amazing. The lodge is a beautiful base for cruises on the Kinabatangan River, and the trips were well organized despite the lodge being large. I stayed in a well-equipped dorm with wooden beds, curtains, power plugs, reading lights and towels. Wifi is only available in the dining area, at an extra cost of 15RM per device, though mobile reception worked for basic needs.
We had a great time exploring the wildlife around this resort. I spotted a lizard crawling beneath our cabin and into the water, though I only got a photo once it was in. Monkeys were in a tree beside the dining area, but they stayed out of the dining room. Boats for the river cruises leave from a private dock nearby, and lifejackets were included. They also offer jungle night walks and provide boots. Such an amazing experience.
