De Palma Hotel Kuala Selangor
About this property
Nestled near the banks of Selangor River, the air-conditioned club resort offers tranquillity and calm. It is the ultimate relaxing holiday establishment that promises to take guests to a different world. All of the comfortable chalets and villas are set within a rustic, beautiful location with fruit orchards and paddy fields around them. Located in the heart Kuala Selangor town it is merely an hour's drive from the hustle and bustle of Kuala Lumpur. The establishment is minutes away from the historic Melawati Hill, which has a lighthouse and several old colonial houses built during the days of British rule. Guests who want to explore the area can use the bike hiring service and while they do it they can stop at any of the restaurants and try the good, simple authentic food they serve.

The staff were warm and friendly from check-in through check-out, and their care made the stay feel special despite the room issues. Housekeeping cleaned our room and replaced the towels without us asking. When we chose to skip breakfast the next day, staff even called to check whether we still wanted it. There were some cracks in the walls and ceiling, a few ants appeared, and dust had built up around some window corners and wall edges. The toilet area could have been cleaner: the handheld shower head was small, the water pressure weak, and a little water dripped from the ceiling. The air conditioner sometimes blew warm air even though it wasn’t set to another mode. Breakfast choices were limited. I understand it’s an eco resort, but it’d be nice to have more variety at the egg station, rather than just omelettes. The stay was okay, but there’s room to improve.

Alhamdulillah, we had a great kindy showcase last Sunday. Ms Lina was really helpful before the event and on the day, even though she was on leave. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. If we get the chance, we’ll definitely come back, inshaAllah.

A relaxing place with a nice view, friendly staff, clean rooms and good water pressure. You need to drive out to find food, though the hotel’s own food is good too. Since it’s in a seaside setting, the hotel could feel more local and offer more seafood choices.

Getting there was inconvenient because the location is remote. The room was very noisy due to poor soundproofing. The sheets were quite dirty, and after I called, it took two tries before I got clean ones.

I was there for an event, so I can’t comment on the rooms, service or food. The ballroom is nice. The parking area could perhaps be expanded to accommodate a large event or crowd.
