Luna Capsule

The staff were nice, and they handled the refund appropriately, but we ended up moving elsewhere. Agoda’s listing wasn’t accurate: we booked a four-bed double-bed dorm, while the property only had one room with eight beds.

The staff are friendly, and there’s a water dispenser and a locker available. The room is separated only by a curtain, so there’s no soundproofing. The common-area floors felt quite dirty, especially with some guests barefoot and others wearing slippers, so it wasn’t clear whether slippers were allowed. The walk to the jetty is fairly long, though a Grab ride costs around RM4.

We were a family of four in two separate rooms, and the rooms looked like the advertised pictures. The place is in shoplots, though, and the thin cement-board walls between rooms plus laminate flooring seemed to amplify every sound. Staff staying next door dragged furniture, sang, talked, and laughed loudly until midnight. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable too, so we checked out early and found another place. Avoid it if you want somewhere quiet.

The double room was upstairs at the back, in Luna Capsule ll. It had a roomy ensuite bathroom with a heated shower. The room was generally clean and fairly spacious, but dated, with a small TV and an even smaller window, and could use a touch-up. For one person, the Luna capsule was a great experience. The women’s capsules were clean and air-conditioned, the shower and WCs were decent, and there was a cozy lounge with TV and Netflix. Breakfast was free, with toast, coffee, and tea, and clean towels were provided. Lia and the other staff were friendly and helpful, and the owners were nice. One shower needed a new light, and the WC area was very cramped. It’s a nice place to meet other travellers. There’s self-service laundry at the back, eateries nearby, and the jetty and shop lots are a short walk away.
