Sipadan Inn Service Apartments Semporna

With kids and an elderly person in our group, Sipadan 2 was in a better spot for us, closer to the jetty. We cancelled our booking at Sipadan 1 for that reason. There are lots of places to eat next door and nearby.

We had Room V1 for one night, and there was nothing to complain about. The room was roomy and comfortable for the two of us, with a big cozy bed, sofa, android TV, high speed WIFI, kettle, tea and coffee. The air-conditioning was good, the toilet was clean, and the water heater had good pressure. Towels and basic toiletries were provided. Our large balcony had a lovely sunset view, with boats carrying goods and guests to nearby islands passing by. The male receptionist was friendly and attentive. Sipadan Inn 2 was easy to find, just a few metres from the Jetty Soto, and restaurants, souvenir shops and Pasar Awam Semporna were all within walking distance. A pleasant, memorable stay.

The location is very convenient for island trips, which is why we didn't give it one star. But after four days, we cancelled the next four days of our reservation. The hotel was dirty, and a bad smell from several restaurants outside meant we couldn't open the window. Wi-Fi worked only now and then, and the photos were really misleading. The reception guys had been there for so many hours that you could feel how tired they were. We paid little, but that doesn't excuse the filth and lack of care. We wouldn't recommend it.

It's a budget hotel, maybe only 2-3 stars, so don't expect too much. The room was nice and clean, all good. It makes sense if you're after the cheapest price and a great location: right in central Semporna, with 7eleven, lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
