68 Boutique Hotel

We spent about two weeks here and found the location handy for both restaurants and shops. The room stayed cool the whole time, the linen was good, and there were plenty of clean towels. We only saw a couple of mosquitoes. The place is kept spotless by Mas and Ida, and the Swedish lift is a little slower than expected but feels solid and worked without trouble. Komy, Fiqry and Roslan at reception, along with Mas and Ida in housekeeping, made the stay easy and memorable. Everyone was welcoming, thoughtful, efficient and ready to help. They were kind, reliable and trustworthy, and helped us get done what we needed to do. We're very grateful.

I picked this hotel because it was convenient for work, but both stays made it hard to sleep. On my first visit, 3D2N in a room with a window, I could hear motorcycles and cars all night because the soundproofing was so poor. I tried a windowless room for my second stay, 4D3N, and heard loud water pumps every night instead. When I brought it up, the hotel said all the rooms were like that. I also left a pair of gold earrings worth RM1k+ in the room. I'm 100% sure I left them there, but the housekeeper said nothing had been found. A really disappointing experience.

The location made things easy, with what I needed, including a self-service laundry, within walking distance. The hotel is good value and probably among the nicest in this area, even though it isn't a tourist spot. Staff were friendly and polite, and did their best to accommodate us. I was in a spacious Deluxe King room with no windows. The large frosted windows in the bathroom let in enough natural light that it didn't feel claustrophobic. Towels and basic toiletries were supplied. A few small maintenance fixes would help. The TV wasn't connected to anything except power. They do provide a USB stick with movies, but none of those appealed to us, and we hadn't brought our own. The Wifi was good, though, so Netflix worked on my laptop. Basic digital TV would be a useful addition, since the channels are free after installation. There are plenty of hotels nearby, but this one offered the best fit for the price. I'd happily choose it again if I come back.

For a budget place, it was really good for our one-night stay. The bed was comfortable, and the hotel has a cozy, rustic, old-world feel. But after midnight the “mat rempits” (illegal street racers) made so much noise that we couldn't sleep properly. The place itself was decent, though late-night noise is something to keep in mind if you need a restful night.
