Sleepbox Hotel - Hostel

The price was okay, but I probably wouldn't stay again. There are other hostels nearby with better service and cleaner, more comfortable beds for less. I tried this place for one night as a change from the backpacker and hiker hostels I usually use in Cameron Highlands, booking through Agoda. It cost a bit more than my usual place. It's basic capsule accommodation, and a few expected amenities are missing. The beds weren't in the best shape, though they were comfortable enough for me, and the room wasn't air-conditioned but was still fine for sleeping. Each guest gets a small foot locker, just big enough for valuables or expensive hiking gear. Bring your own towel or rent one for RM4. Many similar places provide them free, so that was disappointing. The shared washrooms were decent, but instead of a soap dispenser there was just a small bottle of body wash that you have to request. Agoda described breakfast as “great,” and some likely outdated reviews mentioned it too, but there was no breakfast. My usual hostel includes it, so I was annoyed when the receptionist confirmed there wasn't any. I wasn't expecting much, just a few slices of bread and butter, but it still left me feeling a bit cheated. There's no pantry or sink for guests to wash their hands or clean utensils. A sink seems to be in the common area, but it's behind a gate in the staff-only section near reception. That's a strange setup for a backpackers hostel where people often make simple hot meals like instant noodles.
