TJ Lodge

A handy budget hostel, and one of the better choices around town if you're watching your spending. It was clean enough for the price, and the washing room worked, though it wasn't great. Hot water, tea, coffee, a microwave, and a fridge are available. There's a bar right downstairs, though, so anyone sensitive to noise should skip it.

The town location is great, and the room and rest of the place were clean. We were on the second floor, where the loud music from the bar below didn't bother us much, but I think it could be a problem on the first floor. WiFi in the rooms was weak. The bathroom is in an awkward spot between the kitchen and common room, which can make that shared area unpleasant when someone uses it. Our sheets had blood stains, even though I know they clean them. If those marks won't come out, they should use fresh sheets for that bed.

The owner's recommendations were excellent. We took the 50 Ringgits TJ Land Rover tour for six hours, had a perfect day, and our guide was really nice and knowledgeable. The place itself has a big living room with a TV, free tea and coffee, a little library, a small kitchen, and good WiFi. Our third-floor room had a private bathroom and small balcony, and was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a table and mirrors. The beds were comfy, and clean towels, soap, and toilet paper were included. Fair prices, lovely staff, and a cute owner's cat. Thanks so much, we'd definitely recommend it!

The staff were so helpful and obliging, and knew so much about the area. TJ Lodge was clean and comfortable, with hot showers, comfy beds, and a small library room. The two friendly cats were a nice bit of company, too. Excellent value for money. We loved our stay!
