Juara Beach Resort

My daughter and I recently stayed at Juara Beach Resort, and the experience was upsetting. I arrived feeling fine, but spent our first night awake with a persistent cough. In the morning I checked the air conditioning unit and found it covered in mold, dirt, and hair. I had been sleeping in the bed facing the vent. A doctor at a local clinic said the dirty unit was likely behind my respiratory infection, and I had to pay for the visit and four prescriptions. I was too sick to go scuba diving with my daughter as planned, and couldn't stay in that room for health reasons. I asked the resort to refund the remaining nights of our four-night stay. They offered only one night's refund and blamed my illness on my “symptoms of coughing.” I'm a throat cancer survivor, so that was both inaccurate and insensitive. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but I hope Jura Beach takes this feedback seriously and cleans the AC units so other guests don't get sick.

The restaurant food was superb, especially the Chinese dishes. The chef really knows how to cook. Good service, and the boss was friendly.

We went in August and had a lovely, wholesome stay with great weather. The resort was really nice and seemed to have everything we needed. The beach was clean and good for snorkeling, although a little rocky. The food there was amazing too!

The seaview room is right by the beach, and the location is probably the nicest part of Tioman. That's a big plus, but the rooms are in serious disrepair. The staff don't seem very diligent, so I don't think that will change. Even small fixes could make a big difference, as the photos show.
