The Boathouse Pulau Tioman

The beachfront setting was peaceful, and everyone could enjoy it at their own pace. We came as a group with children and older relatives, and the stay was comfortable and easy to manage for all generations. The crew were the real highlight. They welcomed us warmly, were attentive and friendly, and made sure both the kids and elderly family members were cared for. We had a memorable, pleasant time at The Boathouse Pulau Tioman and would recommend it to families looking for a welcoming, comfortable getaway.

When our teenage daughter came down with a fever on day five, the staff and manager stepped in straight away and helped us leave a day early. They arranged the speedboat and taxi to Kuala Lumpur, and even though I’d booked another night, I wasn’t charged for it. We felt looked after like family. Many thanks to the resort, we’d recommend it to anyone. The resort is a little remote, but the days still flew by. We spent a lot of time diving, and there are other excursions too. The volleyball and the hour at the bar with free snacks and mocktails were a nice way to meet other guests. The staff were very friendly, though service could be slow at times, which didn’t bother us since the point was to slow down. The pool was lovely, and our spacious, nicely decorated room had a beautiful balcony. We were in the second row but could still see the sea. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, and we relaxed completely. The restaurant offered plenty of choice. Breakfast was extensive, with tasty Asian and European options.

We went on an organized snorkeling trip and were glad we did: we saw turtles, sharks, Napoleon fish, and beautiful coral. Snorkeling straight from the beach takes a fairly long swim, so the resort may not suit people who want to snorkel right offshore. The north of the island has better conditions, though its accommodation is less stylish and comfortable. Monkeys also wander around the resort, adding to the feeling of being out in nature. The guided jungle hike arranged by the hotel was another highlight. Our knowledgeable guide took us through lush rainforest to a waterfall, where adults and children could swim and jump into the natural pools. Our three beachfront bungalows, booked in the first row for three families, exceeded expectations. They were spotless and tastefully furnished, with a relaxed, refined look. We could step straight from the terrace into the sea. The small dark-brown wooden villas fit naturally into the palm-lined bay, and the whole place felt tranquil and thoughtfully designed. On the jetty as we arrived, we spotted small reef sharks moving through the clear water, an unforgettable welcome. The staff were consistently friendly and attentive. Meal service could use some work: à la carte orders and the buffet flow felt a little unpolished. We understood the resort had reportedly opened only the year before. It would also help to have a few non-spicy dishes at every meal, especially for children. The dive center was disappointing for us. Its “Experience Scuba Diving” course is only available as a three-day package, which doesn’t work well for guests who just want to try diving once or are visiting for a long weekend. After we went through the options with staff, we were told everything was fully booked, and we couldn’t arrange even one fun dive during our four-day stay. We stayed in early April as six adults and six children and felt very comfortable. The resort has a distinctive look and a special atmosphere, with natural beauty and thoughtful design, despite a few things that could be improved.

Stargazing on the beach at night was magical, and our beachfront room had an incredible view. The facilities felt brand new and were top-notch. Thevan led a wonderful team, especially Rahimah, Fairus and Pika, who were so warm and went out of their way to keep our son entertained. Chef Gomez & Chef Bob consistently served us outstanding dishes. It made our family trip stress-free and memorable. Thank You The Boathouse Tioman Team!!
