Green Stay house

For a one-night city visit, this place worked out really well. We were right in the center, and the staff were lovely. Even though we only knew a little Portuguese, communication was easy. Our room was roomy and had its own small bathroom.

The restaurant and breakfast were a real highlight, with plenty of choice at breakfast. After a day out exploring Maputo, the clean, stylish room had everything needed to unwind. The staff were very kind and ready to help with requests, and the central location made getting around convenient. I had a wonderful stay and would gladly return on another trip. Highly recommend.

For the price, this is a pretty good bargain, and I’d give it a strong four. The people were friendly, and the lodge offers taxis, breakfast, and laundry. A few staff members were quiet, but nobody was rude and they were always willing to help. The shared bathroom was kept very clean by the cleaners, though sharing with a lot of people can still be uncomfortable. Everyone has a different idea of clean, and some people don’t make much effort. Even the private bathroom in my room had a drawback: there was a toilet and shower but no sink. It didn’t bother me too much during a short visit, but for a longer one it would’ve been frustrating. The location is the biggest shame. It isn’t unsafe, just not very appealing, especially if you haven’t lived in Maputo for long. The place has potential, but the location and odd bathroom setup hold it back. I’d still recommend it, mainly for short stays. You could stay longer, but those issues might get annoying. Personally, a week would be my limit.

We came back for a second stay because it was the cheapest place we found, and it suited us fine. We’re an easygoing European backpacker couple, and would suggest it to travelers with a similar attitude. The neighborhood gets very busy in the daytime, with lots of vendors around, though there was always a friendly security guard at the entrance. The beds were comfortable, the A/C and WiFi worked well, towels were provided, and we had hot water. There’s a shared bathroom, and we could use the kitchen for basic food prep.
