Montebelo Girassol Maputo Hotel

The pool is beautiful, and the view is lovely apart from a few buildings. The hotel itself is very nice and clean, but the service is really bad. I checked in yesterday and am still here writing this. I arrived at the pool an hour and a half ago and have asked twice for someone to take my order. Nobody has come, even after I called reception to ask again. The lawn beside the pool was covered with bottles and cans from the previous night, clearly after a party, and no one was cleaning it up. It feels like the employees are either on a silent strike or just don’t want the business to succeed. The place is very nice, and it doesn’t even seem 20% occupied, so what is the staff busy with? It’s such a shame. I’d come back if the service improved or management changed.

The hotel met my expectations for a four-star place, with clean, well-kept rooms and friendly, attentive staff. I’d still recommend it, though a couple of small things could be better. There was no complimentary body lotion in the room, which I’m used to finding in most hotels in South Africa. Also, the toilet paper rolls were small and ran out quickly, so I had to ask for more several times. On my last day, repeated requests didn’t get another roll delivered to my room, which caused unnecessary stress.

The view is very good, the location is nice, and the service is good.

The little details can really change your mood, and I truly had a good time. The room service was a delight, and the food was good. I was super satisfied with every aspect. The staff don’t just rely on their training, they actually pay attention to what clients need. I was especially happy with receptionist Mr Youness and Miss Maria. It was a phenomenal weekend, and I couldn’t recommend a better place to stay.
