Radisson Blu Hotel & Residence Maputo

Breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty to choose from, including sweet pastries, hearty dishes, and à la carte options such as Eggs Benedict. The breakfast area is inviting too. I also liked having both a bathtub and a separate shower in the room, especially for a relaxing bath after a long day. The hotel is modern and well managed, and the staff were attentive and genuinely friendly. Whenever I called, reception answered right away. The room lighting could be better: it felt dim, with no strong light near the desk, though perhaps mine wasn’t working properly. My room was also missing slippers, a bathrobe, and a hairdryer, things some guests may expect from a five-star hotel. They weren’t a problem for me. I had a very pleasant stay.

Good setup for business travel, with spacious rooms, reliable WiFi, and a desk. It’s very close to the airport, and there’s a beautiful ocean view.

Breakfast had a wide range of choices, though it was served in another tower because the main area was being refurbished. The staff were friendly and helpful. Some days I wasn’t sure the rooms had been cleaned properly, and they could use a bit of touching up. The upper-floor windows facing the water weren’t very clean either. It’s a well located beachfront hotel tower.

For New Year’s 2025, my family and I booked the Radisson package and paid for an extra night too. Check-in was an hour late, which we accepted, but the rooms seemed rushed and lacked essential items. The party tickets were already paid for, and we were told they’d be handed out at the event. At dinner we got only three of the five tickets. By the time the other two people in our group arrived, the staff member with the rest had left. We were stuck outside during the New Year’s countdown, pleading to be let in. Afterward, we got one more ticket and were told the last one would come later. When we went to the bathroom, security wouldn’t let us back in without tickets. We pleaded again, and the manager said we shouldn’t have left the party. About 30 minutes later, he returned with the final ticket. The next day, our room keys were blocked because the hotel thought we were staying one night, even though we’d paid for two and confirmed that at check-in. One of the rooms hadn’t been cleaned either. The whole thing was very disappointing and poorly managed. I wouldn’t recommend the Radisson New Year’s package when you may not get what you paid for.
