In winter we chose The White house outside Grunau instead of camping, and after our hike I met Eric McLaren there. The man’s a legend, and his book 30 Times Down is worth buying. The map showing distances was very helpful. [Group51 Jun26] If you’re doing the FishRC, this is the place to stay. Dolf and Nita provide amazing service, with clean, comfortable, convenient accommodation and hearty meals. Ask about the all-in option, which covers the night before and after, plus both transfers. You won’t be sorry. Dolf might even add a surprise detour on the way to the canyon drop-off point. Camping is available too.

After a long day on the road, the braai packs we ordered were such a treat. They came with freshly baked bread and spreads, fresh salads, and delicious lamb chops, ribs, and wors. We also found the campsites spacious, beautiful, and neatly kept, with clean, well-maintained bathrooms. The staff were so friendly and welcoming throughout our stay at White House Guest Farm during our trip through Namibia. We had an incredible time and would gladly stay again. Highly recommend it to anyone travelling through Namibia.

The De Wet family and staff made us feel so welcome, and the food was amazing, proper boerekos. We stayed at the White House while hiking the Fish River Canyon, using their hiker package with accommodation, dinner and breakfast, and transport to both the start and end points. The house has kept its historic charm, with lots of little details that make you love the place even more. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone travelling that route.

The owners were so friendly and helpful, even arranging a romantic Picknick. They made us feel like old friends, warm and welcome. Thanks again for all the guidance and friendly service. The place was clean, and its history has been well preserved. The service and food were worth the money, and the chef’s cooking tasted like real homemade farm food. It was my first time staying in Namibia, and a great first experience. I’m going back next year, and this will be my first place to stay. Martin en Sonja
