I was glad to find local food here, including Mopane, after a journey where the lodges mostly served beefsteak or fish in a 2:1 ratio. The food was too salty for my taste, though. The service was good, and the manager gave us useful tips. One waitress seemed irritated when we said we wanted to pay on the first day, but we found her reaction funny. The big problem was the smell. They’d used a lot of strong disinfectant, and it lingered even after we aired the room out thoroughly, so we couldn’t sleep. We’d booked while on the road and missed that detail, which ended up ruining our stay.

We just wanted a quick stop between destinations, but my daughter found a condom wrapper in the room. My husband also noticed that everyone seemed to check out the same day they checked in. We told the staff the hotel didn’t feel suitable for us and asked to leave for another place listed in the Lonely Planet. They said that hotel was closed and suggested we go elsewhere, but we went to the business hotel mentioned in the LP anyway, and it was open. On top of that, they didn’t return our money. The staff member said she needed to check with the manager, while we just wanted to take our two kids somewhere they could play safely. Being lied to was the worst part. I would not book this for a proper stay. It felt like a place for people cheating on their wives.

A nice, quiet spot to relax, and the workers are lovely. The meals weren’t that good, except for omagungu.

It’s easy to get to and the staff are friendly. I stayed one night. Breakfast should be included in the rack rate.
