Waterberg Wilderness

For the price, I can’t recommend Wilderness Lodge. The location is lovely, tucked away in nature with good hiking trails, but the rooms feel outdated and the lack of renovation shows everywhere. Wi-Fi didn’t work while we were there, and the shower stayed cold, with no hot water. The pool was supposed to be available, but it was murky and full of leaves. It looked like the filter pump might be broken. Reception was also far below what I expected in Africa: they just handed over the key and said, “Here’s your room.” The food was okay, and the waiter and kitchen staff were very friendly.

The resort is clean, well kept and surrounded by nature, and seeing rhinos is guaranteed. It’s fairly close to Windhoek, so it makes a great place to rest before a flight.

The guides clearly love what they do, and the activities on site exceeded my expectations. We took part in them and had a great time. We stayed two nights and I’d highly recommend it. The location is fantastic, the service is excellent, and the owner should be proud of the team. Every dinner was fresh and delicious, with something different each day, and breakfast had plenty of variety. There was always hot water in the showers and in the flasks for coffee and tea.
