We only stopped overnight, but Anniki and her team made us feel very welcome. The place had a lovely, homely feel, and the food was great, a welcome change from the rest of our trip. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and it was good value. They were generous with local knowledge and helped us get the best out of the rest of our travels. We’ll return and recommend it to other travellers.

We just ate at the restaurant, we didn’t stay at the hotel. We’d asked earlier that day for a vegetarian dinner, and it was delicious: a big plate of vegetables for a great price. The chef was happy to make both vegan and vegetarian meals. Definitely the best restaurant in town, and the easiest place to get vegetables.

The food and service were good, and they gave us a few tips and contacts for a guide in Puros. That earned two stars. The coffee, as usual in Namibia, wasn’t good. The price was the problem. We had agreed on one amount with the guesthouse the day before, then the owners arrived the next day and said that rate was for locals. We paid 65eur per person per night for B&B and one dinner dish, not three. This was during the Corona period, with barely any other travellers in the country, while everyone else was giving discounts. We might have let it go without this comment, though an agreed price is an agreed price. For comparison, in Etosha we paid 60eur per person per night for B&B plus a full dinner at a luxury lodge directly overlooking the animals’ watering pond. Epupa Falls lodge, with a direct view of the Falls, was 50Eur per person all inclusive. This guesthouse feels more like a motel, with the toilet and shower separated from the bed by a metal plate just one meter high. At similar places, as non-locals, we paid about 30eur. If you get a good price, pay in advance or the day before. This policy may solve something in the short term, but over time it will drive people away.
