Ocean House Guest House

There were no vegetarian hot breakfast options, and the regular hot breakfast was just bacon and eggs. For what they charge, it really wasn’t worth it. We’d booked three nights but decided to leave after one because of the rude, indifferent treatment and the problems in the room. When we arrived, we called the number at the gate and were told we had no booking, even though we did. We waited outside in the cold for what felt like ages before the woman in charge let us in and showed us to our room. It was spacious and clean, but freezing, with no TV. The Wi-Fi in room 15 was unstable at first and then took ages to load even one web page. The bathroom was outdated, with a bit of mold on the wall. We asked if the balcony bulb could be changed the next day, and she replied, “You're the first people to complain about it.” We also asked for a portable heater or hot water bottles. She said there was nothing she could do and, “It's Swakopmund, It's cold.” We called another number listed on the site to discuss a refund for the two nights we wouldn’t be staying. A friendly, helpful woman spoke with us, contacted the woman in charge, then called back with two options: stay and have a heater brought the next day, or get the refund we’d asked for. We chose the refund because of the woman in charge’s rude behavior. The next morning, she greeted another guest in the dining room but didn’t greet us. We didn’t mind, as we just wanted to get out of there.

I spent four days here and really enjoyed my stay. It was peaceful, with no noise and friendly fellow guests.

Breakfast is included, but the hot food is only eggs and bacon, so it doesn’t feel worth the price. There’s no TV or air conditioning either.

Moses was a warm and helpful host, and the location was perfect. I’ll definitely come back!
