Swakopmund Luxury Suites

I enjoyed the Swakopmund dessert and its activities. Swakopmund is a popular tourist destination in Namibia, and the trip was a chance to learn more about the dessert and Sandwich Harbour. John Stupart says, 'don't tell me how educated you are, tell me how much you have traveled.' Namibia feels like South Africa since you can use our currency and cellphone there. The accommodation and everything else were excellent.

The staff were top notch, and Ladisha was especially spectacular, going above and beyond. We stayed one night at the Swakopmund Luxury Suites, which is conveniently placed within walking distance of the ocean and great restaurants. The breakfast was perfect.

The bathroom was the biggest concern for us. It had visible mold, a strong musty smell, and serious moisture problems. The fan didn't seem to work, perhaps because it was clogged. That felt unacceptable for a place presenting itself as clean and luxurious. Sleep was difficult too. The room couldn't be properly darkened, with neither the large balcony windows nor the skylights having blackout coverings. Daylight came in early and cut short a restful night. The air conditioning made recurring loud noises, and the average bed comfort didn't help. The duvet covers slipped off and tangled during the night, while the pillows were too firm. It would have been nice to have a choice of pillows. The suites look modern and pleasant, and are in good condition, but the furnishings felt more like an upscale average accommodation than a luxury suite. The name and online photos set expectations that the actual amenities didn't meet. There is free parking watched by a security guard. At check-in we were told the service was free, but the employee got surly when he didn't receive a tip, or when, as in our case, we didn't tip him both on arrival and again at departure. With the problems around hygiene and sleeping comfort, we wouldn't recommend Swakopmund Luxury Suites. It may look modern at first, but didn't deliver on what its name promises. Anyone wanting a truly restful, luxurious stay should look elsewhere.

The location is perfect, the room beautiful, and breakfast was wonderful. Nelly deserves a special mention for waiting after hours to explain everything, taking her time and always smiling. She's the best. Thanks to her and the whole staff at this wonderful place. I can't wait to come back 😎❤️🙏🏻
