The rooms are spacious and reasonably priced, with air conditioning and a small fridge that help make the Tsumeb heat more bearable. The hotel was very clean, and the staff were friendly throughout. I also appreciated how quiet it was at night, without the disruptive dog barking or other unnecessary noise you hear in many parts of Tsumeb. There’s secure parking inside the enclosed grounds, with a guard on duty around the clock, which gave me peace of mind. In the middle of the peaceful courtyard, palm trees and plants surround a clean blue pool. It feels calm and welcoming, almost like an exotic retreat. The hotel offers excellent value for what you get.

On our extensive tour of Namibia, the cool, clean, comfortable rooms at Makalani Hotel were a welcome place to rest. The food was delicious and well prepared, and the portions were generous. Our laundry came back perfectly done and spotless, and the secure parking was reassuring. The whole team was warm, attentive, and professional throughout our stay. Nalo deserves a special mention. We felt very well cared for and would highly recommend Makalani Hotel to anyone passing through Tsumeb. Thank you kindly. Dries and Magda Coetzee, Keetmanshoop, and Leon and Hettie Nel, New Zealand

We spent two hours with reception trying to get hot water, but had none all night. At first, we were told the other available rooms also had no hot water. The next morning, a new receptionist said there had been other rooms with hot water the night before and that the previous receptionist had lied. We had been promised a discount, but at checkout they offered just N$100, barely US$5. They called that generous, even after I explained that two hours of my time had gone into trying to get hot water we never got, and that the discount felt disrespectful and should be higher. Then she called the police on us. The customer service was ridiculous, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The owner is a wonderful lady who went out of her way to make my stay a good one, since I wasn't feeling well after a long journey. The hotel is in a small mining town, and it's neat and clean with excellent food. I'd recommend it without hesitation.
