Hilltop Guesthouse

We found the hotel a little far from Windhoek city if you don’t have a car. The room was lovely, and we liked the setup. The people were helpful and friendly, there was a security guard on the grounds, and the Wi-Fi worked well. Breakfast was a dream, really special and good.

The breakfast was the best, and we also loved the gorgeous views and comfortable beds. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, and the gated parking had a security guard there 24 hours a day. This place is a hidden gem. We absolutely loved staying here and will come back when we return to Windhoek.

Hilltop Guesthouse worked really well as a starting and ending point for our Namibia trip, since we were flying in and out of Windhoek. We stayed one night at each end of a couple of weeks in Namibia in Sept 2016, after our travel agent, Discover Namibia Safari & Tours, recommended it and booked us in months ahead. It proved to be a good choice. The property sits on Lessing Street on a hillside overlooking part of Windhoek. There are just 7 rooms, so the owner and staff can keep a close eye on guests. Parking is limited to a small area for a handful of cars, with some extra space on the street outside. Security is there around the clock. Our room was spacious, comfortable, boutique-style, and well furnished. It had a comfortable bed, desk, closet space, TV, A/C, coffee and tea facilities, and a working safe. The bathroom fixtures were modern and functional. There’s a pool and some tables and chairs on the property, and each room has an outdoor deck with its own table where you can have breakfast just outside. The owner was friendly, attentive, and full of useful information about Windhoek and last-minute shopping before setting off. For dinner on our last night, he also suggested a reliable taxi service. We enjoyed our stay and would happily return on a future trip. At present, it seems like a very good place to stay in Windhoek.

The staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean and fairly spacious. The air-conditioning was well below par, though, because the units are too small for the rooms. Anyone familiar with Windhoek knows how much A/C can affect how comfortable your stay is.
