Casa del Sole Apartments

The views were amazing, and I enjoyed my nearly four weeks in this comfortable one-bedroom apartment. It was fully furnished, with a washing machine, capsule coffee maker and a TV. Wi-Fi is on you to pay for, though the first 24 hours are free. There was a dishwasher, but ours didn't work, and a vending machine by reception.

We loved having a choice of two beaches in different directions, and the views were great. The location really is the big draw. Ask for a high-floor room if you want to get away from some of the noise from nearby restaurants and their live music. Our doors and curtains blocked it out well. Bring your own internet access, detergent, an extra tea towel and toilet paper. The front desk staff were helpful and spoke both English and French. I got confused about when the airport shuttle would pick us up, and they called to check for me.

The staff were lovely, and I got to practise my French. The rooms were great, and the location was too. The pool is small but quite adequate, and there’s a little shop next door open at certain hours for essentials. We had to swap some items between apartments with our travel companions, so room inventories could be checked more regularly. Also, when we reported a broken toilet seat, service was slow. Luckily, each apartment had two toilets. Otherwise, it’s a great place, and I’d stay again.

The walls and ceiling have badly peeling paint, and quite a few things were broken, including door handles and beds. The rooms also smelled a bit off, and there was very little lighting beyond lamps that didn't do much. On the plus side, the rooms are spacious and everything works. There’s a kitchen with running water and an oven, lots of restaurants stay open late, and the water is just across the road. I’d say it’s fine for a night or two, but for a longer stay I’d personally look elsewhere.
