Clay House by Husk Collection

I had a lovely stay at Clay house. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the calm, elegant ambience made a good impression. The staff were welcoming and professional throughout, and the attention to detail and quality of service stood out. I’d recommend it and would be glad to come back.

We especially enjoyed the food, particularly the fisherman soup and seafood okro. The location also worked well for sightseeing, and the staff made us feel at home. Our room was clean and spacious, with all the amenities we needed. We had a wonderful stay and I’d recommend it.

It’s a peaceful spot with nice scenery, away from the city’s busy feel. I enjoyed a Karaoke night during my stay, and it was a wonderful experience. It’s also a nice place to unwind, watch football, or put on a movie.

The property looks beautiful and matched what we’d seen in the marketing, but after four days at Clayhouse, we’ve decided not to return. We went in with high hopes and left disappointed by the service. We paid for two adults, but were still asked to pay separately for my guest’s breakfast every day. I’d discussed this with the manager beforehand, and he agreed to waive that charge. At check-in, though, the receptionist said the manager still wanted us to pay. The bathroom offered little privacy. Its window faced straight outside, so someone standing there could see you at the toilet. There was also a foul smell that came and went, and water leaked onto the floor whenever we showered, even with the door shut. On our last night, the internet went down completely. We called several times and were told the maintenance person was working on it and it would be back soon. Only when I pressed for a clear answer on the third call did staff explain it was a general issue and suggest hotspotting the smart TV from our phones. We tried DSTV in the room too, but kept getting error messages. The final straw was what happened at checkout. I’d forgotten food in the fridge, remembered as I put my bags in the car, and hurried back. It had been barely five minutes, but the cleaners had eaten it. They hadn’t started cleaning the room; they’d gone straight to the fridge and cleared it out. I raised it with the manager on duty, who offered a complimentary restaurant meal to resolve the issue, but I declined. I hope the owner reads this objective review and finds a way to bring the service up to the standard of the property’s appearance. If good service is what you’re looking for, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
