I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels across Africa and rarely seen one this bad. The biggest problem was insects in the sheets in two different rooms, as shown in the videos. The rooms were dingy and worn, and the place didn’t seem to have been cared for in years. The sheets were dirty and frayed, and the WiFi didn’t work. To be fair to the staff, the fourth room they gave me had clean sheets. After some prompting, they also worked quickly to get a hotspot going so I could use the internet. But by then my company’s travel team had already decided to move me elsewhere because they considered the overall condition a health and safety risk.

The rooms are above average and room service is decent. It’s tucked into a quiet part of CBD - Abuja, so it suits you if you want a peaceful daytime stay. Evenings and nights can get a bit busy and noisy because there’s an events centre in the same vicinity.

The calm outdoor setting has a Caribbean beach feel, and I really loved the interiors too. Service was top-notch while I was there. I’ll definitely return next time I’m in town.

The spa was the one bright spot. The shower in one of our two rooms didn’t work properly, the toilet door was missing, and we waited far too long for food.

There’s plenty of parking, and the place is clean with a cosy feel in both the common areas and rooms. The staff were courteous. With a spa, bowling centre, gym and swimming pool, there’s a lot to do here. It’s a nice spot to stay and have fun, right in Abuja’s central business district.
