Rich Bridge Hotel

My room was lovely for the nightly price, and breakfast came through room service each morning. The hotel has a quaint boutique feel, and the front desk, housekeeping, and room service staff looked after me attentively. It's close to Jabi Lake Mall, though a bit far from downtown. I did miss having a pool or any outdoor spot with plants or trees, even a little courtyard. Also, my friend had an unacceptable run-in with the hotel manager. If you're arranging activities at the hotel, get a detailed estimate of what they'll do before paying.

I arrived at Richbridge hotels at 11:55 p.m. on August 21, exhausted after a long trip and a difficult time getting out of the airport. My phone had stopped responding when I tried to book a Bolt, so I spent more than 90 minutes there before someone arranged a taxi for me. I had to withdraw cash at an ATM to pay the driver. Once he dropped my luggage at the hotel, he left. At reception, the unsmiling woman told me the only room available was the service room for N50k, and showed me a picture on her phone. I agreed to take it and tried to pay by card. She said they only accepted cash or transfer. It was about 12:30 a.m. by then. I explained my phone was frozen and I couldn't make a transfer, and that my card was the only payment method I could use. She ignored me. I was tired, frustrated, and shocked that a modern hotel had such strict payment rules, with no answer when I asked if I was supposed to go find an ATM in the middle of the night. I used my other phone to call my cab driver back and look for somewhere nearby. I found SV Chrome hotel, two minutes away, and called them while still at the desk. They had a room for N70k, and I accepted the higher price because I wanted better service. My stay there was exceptional, and their service was top notch. At Richbridge, nobody on duty tried to help or even asked why I was leaving. Watching a guest walk out without a word felt pompous and failed at basic hospitality. This was the worst hotel and customer service experience I've had in all my travels. Richbridge hotel should do better. I'd never return, and I'd strongly discourage anyone who recommends it. I'd rather sleep in my car than stay there.

The atmosphere was comfortable, and the staff were both professional and friendly. Excellent hospitality.

Really lovely ambience. I did wait several minutes at reception before seeing the receptionist, though, and there wasn't a concierge available.
