Neocourts Hotel

Set in the heart of New Haven, this is a clean, serene, estate-like hotel with courteous staff. The internet was fairly fast and steady, and most of the facilities worked well, so I rarely needed to ask the front desk for help. It's a little above average in price, but worth it. Discounts may be available if you book more rooms or nights.

We came to hang out after someone recommended it, and it was a terrible choice. We sat outside the gate honking for two minutes or more before it opened. Inside, the place felt dead, with no music or vibe at all. The staff seemed to know nothing about customer service and responded coldly when we asked them to clean the dusty seats, which they should have done without being asked. The barbecue fish took forever, even though they told us it would take only 1 hour 30 minutes. When I asked the staff for an update, the response was lousy. I got fed up, took the fish, and left. Definitely not recommended.

This rating and review are just for the hotel pool bar. I haven't used the hotel rooms. The grilled catfish is the best in Enugu, no competition, but also the most expensive at N12,000. It takes about 2hrs to be ready, so ordering before you arrive is a good idea. They do tell you it'll take about 1:30hr when ordering, so you can decide whether to wait. Drinks are moderately priced by Enugu standards, with almost all beer at N1,000. The waitstaff can be slow, or maybe they're understaffed, and it can take a while to get their attention for more drinks or to work out your bill. The restroom is decent, and the place has a calm, nice ambience. It's not overcrowded and there's no loud music, which is a plus. A relaxing place for a chat over fish and beer. The pool is clean and inviting, lovely to look at even if you're not swimming. There are rarely swimmers there in the evening, so you don't have to worry about that.

The location is a real advantage, with easy access to and from the airport. My room and bed were spacious, and there’s a large pool and a bar. Some of the room facilities felt dated, though upgrades were underway during my stay in early February 2021. Parking could be tight when the hotel is full, and they don’t offer bed and breakfast. A good hotel overall, around three and a half stars if that rating were available.
