Ritz-Carinton Suites

Nothing in this hotel works: the water heater, AC or lights. Even the workers don't work 😢

After a bad stay at a nearby hotel in New Heaven, I was impressed by the overall look here for 25k, as well as the location and the sit-out bar. The room was a four, but the bathroom was a two, even though the heater worked. Maintenance is a big problem: things in the bathroom are falling apart, there's no shower or bucket, and nothing to fetch water with. The bathroom door handle is broken too. These may seem minor, but they matter a lot. The main doors should have smart keys as well. I'd recommend it to friends looking for a hotel in Enugu if management acts quickly on these issues.

I booked through Expedia from the UK, but when I arrived the hotel said there was no booking. I paid for a night myself, and it wasn't sorted out until the next day. On day five of my holiday, the air conditioner exploded and burned my backpack and a chair that had my passport on it. The manager didn't seem concerned. A kind Nigerian helped me find another hotel in New Heaven. A very bad experience. I'm going to the police and court this morning. International guests could face this same awful situation if it happens again.

It's a decent budget option, with a convenient location and easy access to Akanu Ibiam International Airport. My room was clean, comfortable and had a satisfactory set of amenities. Staff response could be slow when I made requests, and they weren't proactive about keeping me informed. My experience had both good points and things that need work.
