Iris Gold Suite

The Iris Double worked well for us and our two-year-old during a couple of nights in Ibadan. It was clean and roomy, and the firm mattress with soft pillows meant I slept well. Staff were polite and quick to respond, and the 24-hour power was useful. WiFi, gym and pool access were included, though we didn't get around to using the gym or pool. Given fuel costs, I can see why the price was what it was, and it still felt reasonable to me. A few room issues brought the rating down to three stars. In room 108, by the door, two plugs didn't work, so we had to share one and switch it with the kettle. The toilet seat wasn't properly secured either. The shower head was a little rusty, and the curtain base was dirtier than the rest of the room. Breakfast was odd. Around 7am someone knocked whether we'd asked for food or not, and brought one plate of whatever the kitchen had made that morning, even though there were two adults in the room. Luckily one of us was fasting, so it didn't cause a problem for us, but what kind of service is that? 😂 A friend had recommended the hotel, and if management sorts these things out, I'd be happy to give it four or even five stars next time. My first night was a complete mess because there weren't enough staff on hand. The receptionist was even worse, with a poor attitude and no real customer service. If you're worn out and looking to relax properly, I wouldn't come here.

The food made meals unpleasant, with some dishes far too salty and others having no taste at all. On top of that, the rooms had roaches, which was unhygienic and unacceptable. My stay was extremely disappointing. The hotel doesn't seem to grasp basic hospitality, and I couldn't recommend it to anyone looking for comfort. Cleanliness, food, and customer service all need major improvement.

The security team were kind and helpful, and the apartments have a beautiful finish. The hotel is also in a nice location. But housekeeping was hard to get unless we called, and even then the cleaners left areas untouched. My room had a dusty, rusty shower and a toilet seat cover that had come off. I told the front desk, but nothing was done. The water was heavily cloudy, too. Cleaning and maintenance really matter in a hotel.
