La Patriache Lodge

The best thing was how close the lodge was to the event center I was visiting. The front desk staff member Mr John was exceptionally polite and helpful, and the living room was really big, with perfect air conditioning. I also liked the flowers and pots. But the bathroom and burner were outdated, the room’s air conditioning wasn’t cooling, and the pool water was murky. The gate staff member was rude and disrespectful. Renovation would make this a better place.

You can expect constant power and fairly spacious rooms at this affordable place in the heart of the island. It’s self catering, so keep that in mind. The bathrooms and kitchen area need a complete renovation, the building needs wheelchair access, and the staff should be much more courteous. John at the front desk gets five stars, though.

My god, the place was full of roaches and the service was bad. They only cleaned the room whenever they felt like it, and we weren’t given fresh towels. We used one towel for two days, and when staff came in they just picked it up and put it on the rack. They even yelled at my husband about the towel. We left five days early and found another hotel.

It’s peaceful, with a nice pool, and handy for getting to plenty of places to shop or eat. But the service was poor, and the attitude toward guests staying for a long time came across as very arrogant. Laundry wasn’t available, and the electricity kept cutting out while I was there.
