I'd only been to this hotel once before, about 10 years ago for a meeting. I stayed overnight for the first time last night, and it doesn't feel luxurious anymore. The AC only worked for less than two hours, and getting my key meant waiting several minutes because the receptionist was also handling porter duties. When I returned from breakfast this morning, the hotel had been sealed off, so we had to get in through an awkward back entrance.

Oakspring has nothing luxurious about it, and I found it poor value for the money. There wasn't a bathroom light in my room or a water heater. Even with the inverter and generator, electricity wasn't available 24 hours. I've had better stays at two much cheaper hotels nearby.

I'm in the States planning a trip, so I had friends go and check out the hotel. From what they told me, I wouldn't stay there or let anyone I know stay. They said the ceilings were falling apart, the elevator was completely broken, water barely worked, the rooms smelled, and the door locks didn't work. I also heard there was a sewage problem and mold and mildew everywhere. The gym and library advertised there apparently aren't available. They said restaurant food was very expensive for tiny portions, drinks were outrageously priced, and the place was badly understaffed. This is ridiculous. I'd never recommend it, and they need to be SHUT DOWN!!!!!!
