Jacobs Place Hotel

Great stay. This place has changed its name to 4matic Hotel.

The place was just okay. The rooms and bed were good, but the heater didn’t work. Their POS is a mess: it debits you, then says the payment failed without printing a receipt. I lost the money for two nights and had to pay double, and they didn’t seem concerned. If you stay there, just use cash or a bank transfer.

My friends and I booked six rooms each. About five minutes later the lights went out, and we waited two hours for them to come back. Once we got into the hotel, we found the water and air conditioners weren’t working. Staff asked us to wait a few more hours, which we did, but nothing was fixed. We politely asked for our money back so we could go to other hotels, since all the rooms seemed to have the same problems. Then the manager and owner called the police security. They threatened to shoot us and bury us, saying nothing would happen because the owner was rich and we were nothing compared to him. We left because our lives were in danger. My review is simple: run for your life instead of paying to stay here, even for one night.

My stay was a disaster. In room 217, the air conditioner didn’t cool and there was no shower curtain. In the toilet, no water outlet worked except the hand-wash basin, so I had to fetch water from there. Service was somewhat slow, and the food was terrible. I bought a plate of rice and chicken for 2,500 Nigerian money. It was a mess.
