Meritz Hotels and Suites Global Limited, Hotel

A warm welcome, and room service came fairly promptly.

For as little as 35k, I got a clean room, a working bath, and complimentary breakfast. That's why I gave it four stars for value.

Meritz hotel is easy to reach on stadium road, close to lots of fun areas, and has a good building with plenty of parking. The rooms were neat and furnished well enough to be comfortable. Beds and TVs were good, and the AC, hot water, and constant power were excellent. The bathrooms badly need an upgrade, especially the poorly built shower area. Towels need replacing too. I got torn ones, or none at all, and thankfully had brought my own. The kitchen responded quickly, and the food was good but pricey. Breakfast came with the room, but there was no variety. Staff were generally polite, though booking was slow and not digitalized in the advantage wing. I paid online and by phone for two rooms for five days, but wasn't assigned a room until I arrived. Even after showing receipts, the staff member on duty stalled on giving me the key cards and pretended my name wasn't in the notebook. The next day I was asked whether I still owed money. It was terrible. Smoking is clearly banned on every room door, but that rule isn't enforced. On Wednesday night, the corridors in both platinum and advantage wings were full of weed and cigarette smoke coming out of rooms. Highly unacceptable. I'm unlikely to come back.

The rooms were okay, but staff could be more careful. I had to call every day because they'd forgotten either a towel or a bathroom floor towel. The meals were a little pricey, and over our six days there we only got two different breakfasts. We had tea and bread for five days straight, which was insane at 4000. Staff were friendly, but they need to pay closer attention to the rooms and breakfast receipts. There was also a bit of back and forth when it was time to pay.
