Hotel Los Portales

It’s a peaceful, pleasant place to stay, and the staff are polite and understanding. The menu is limited, though, with very few vegetarian choices.

The rooms were comfortable to return to after a day out, with good WiFi, air conditioning, spacious bathrooms, and walk-in showers. Our room was cleaned consistently. I also loved the pool, which was clean and beautifully designed, with a lovely temperature for relaxing in the heat. Breakfast was a real highlight. There were lots of choices at the all-you-can-eat buffet, and they made eggs just how I liked them. Service ran from 6 to 11 AM, so it was easy to take the morning slowly. The salmon with veggies was especially good, and lunch and dinner were thoughtfully prepared with great flavors. The staff made a big impression on us. Crishian and Francisco were welcoming at the bar, and Heidy, Lorena, Stephanie, and Milagro on the concierge team were warm and friendly. Jorge kept me company while I had late-night drinks and made me feel at home. We felt welcomed as soon as we arrived, and the service had a family feel. The Portales Hotel is family-friendly and well placed for getting around, about a 45-minute drive to León and 30 minutes to the port of Corinto. I had an amazing stay and would love to return. It felt like a great-value hotel for a visit to Chinandega.

Super clean, with really comfortable beds. Seriously nice hotel, and I’ll definitely come back.

Christian especially deserves thanks, along with all the staff. The service was the best, and the food and drinks were very good. One of the best hotels in Chinandega Nicaragua, beautiful and well maintained. I’d definitely recommend it and will come back to enjoy it again.
