City Centro by Marriott La Recoleccion, Nicaragua

The room was basic, just somewhere to crash. Breakfast was included: a typical Nicaraguan plate of gallo pinto, eggs, fried cheese and fried plantains. Good for a morning boost.

The included breakfast was just okay at best, and the restaurant service was nonexistent. Our room was clean, but the bed and pillows were extremely hard. The ice machines weren’t working either. The hotel was mostly empty and had plenty of rooms available, yet we got a view of the parking lot.

I really liked staying here. The common areas outside the rooms are spacious and comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the location is great. Good value and friendly staff, too.

The hotel itself is good, and the service there is excellent. I’d still stay if the price was right. Compared with el Convento, though, it’s missing things, including a proper bar of soap and shampoo. There’s also more noise in the corridors, and staff start cleaning early. The restaurant service ranges from poor to nonexistent. The staff seem bored, spend time on their phones, and don’t seem to have strong leadership to help them give customers good service.
