Hotel Villa Paraiso

We had a perfect stay, with a beautiful place, a great view, and a good location. Ms. Ana Carina was kind and helped us throughout our stay, including with ferry transportation. We’d definitely visit again.

A beautiful place to stay, and the food is good, though a little pricey.

The staff were friendly and attentive, and the location worked well for exploring both parts of Ometepe. The hotel itself was solid in general, but run down and not very clean. In our first room there was a huge trail of ants, the pool couldn’t be used when we arrived, and in the second room part of the marble bathroom sink covering simply fell off. Given those issues, it felt overpriced. One thing to know about the area: in March 2025 the lake was high, leaving playa Santo Domingo very narrow, less than 10 meters deep. It wasn’t as picture perfect as we’d hoped. That wasn’t the hotel’s doing, but it caught us by surprise.

This was my second stay, and I liked it even more than the first. The cabañas are comfortable, the air conditioning works great, and the bathrooms are very large and well equipped. From here it’s easy to drive to Ojo de Agua or to the start of the hike at la cascada. The food is great too, from breakfast and dinner to the fitanga, though it is a little pricey. There’s also a good variety of alcohol available on site.
