Elementos del Sur

We felt at home at Elementos, from the hammocks and old rocking chairs on the wraparound porch to the self-serve bar. The private pool sits behind large wooden doors beside the open-air breakfast and living space, and the historic house has been carefully renovated with lovely work by local artisans, especially the tile. It’s close to both San Juan Del Sur and the beach, and felt relaxing and safe. Angela and Heath were wonderful hosts. They helped us arrange zip lining and private beach trips, and pointed us to some of our favorite food on the trip. Breakfast came with local fruit juices and a different gourmet meal each day. This was our favorite place of the whole trip, and we’d happily return with friends or family.

We spent five holiday nights at Elementos del Sur and loved it. The rooms are roomy, with great air conditioning, and the pool and wraparound porches were lovely. The property is modern, renovated, and very well cared for. Breakfast was delicious each morning. Angela and Heath also helped our group arrange all kinds of plans, from a sailboat outing, massages at the hotel, and dinners with a private chef to an ATV trip and hike in Ometepe and a beach day. They had good contacts and took care of the details, which made the whole week easy and fun. We were just as happy reading in a hammock on the veranda as heading out on an excursion. If you’re going to Nicaragua, I can’t recommend staying here enough.

This has become my favorite destination. I traveled solo as a woman and felt very safe, and I enjoyed spending time with the locals and the hosts. The filling breakfast was a great way to start each day. Later, I could relax by the pool or in a hammock, listening to birds and the ocean. Angela and Heath know the area well and offered plenty of ideas. I chose surf lessons and massages, and they arranged both. Alex Surf shop picked me up for the lessons, and Angela brought a skilled, professional masseuse to the property. I’ll be back.

The balcony upstairs was such a peaceful spot, with hammocks and rocking chairs and the sound of the waves. We also enjoyed the bar choices and snacks when we wanted something late. Breakfast was a treat, with hot food and different juices each day. EDS is lovely, comfortable, new, clean, and felt very safe. Heath and Angela have made a wonderful place for guests. I’d recommend Elementos del Sur to anyone visiting San Juan del Sur, and I’ll definitely return. See you again soon, Cheryl.
