Hotel La Estación

We’ve stayed here twice now, and it’s come through for us both times. The rooms are comfortable, with great a/c and lovely views. If your room faces the beach, you might hear street noise now and then. We’re used to city noise, so it doesn’t bother us, and the views make up for it. We’ll keep coming back to Hotel La Estación whenever we’re in SJDS.

We had a double room with a large balcony and a direct view of the beach across from us. Great views and a good hotel.

The service was poor, with staff on their phones most of the time. Breakfast across the street was great, though. The rooms were comfortable, with good AC and hot water.

Avoid this hotel, they’ll rip you off. The room number keychain broke off the key, and at checkout the manager William said I had to pay $20 to replace it. I didn’t have enough cash and needed to leave fast to catch the chicken bus to Managua. A hotel employee followed me down the street to the bus stop, saying they were on the phone with the police over a supposedly $20 keychain. At check-in, nobody told me that a little wooden keychain with the room number would cost 25% of a night’s stay if I didn’t return it. Worst experience in Nicaragua by far.
