The location was excellent, about a minute’s walk to the beach and lots of restaurants. The beach is gross, though, so you can take shuttles to nicer ones for swimming or surfing. The free breakfast was a perk, and the fruit was really fresh. Carina was great when I booked a massage, with the masseuse coming right to my room. The room was fine, and the AC worked well. There was no hot water or shampoo, and my window opened onto the area where sheets were hung, so there wasn’t much natural light. The electricity went out twice, but only briefly. WiFi was weak, though I could still join calls if I turned off the camera. I didn’t hear loud music, but I could hear people talking in other rooms and the lobby. Check-in was weak. I wish they’d mentioned the rooftop deck, since I didn’t know it was there. They also didn’t explain how to lock the main gate when I went out, which felt like a security hazard.

The house itself is fine, but we don’t feel comfortable here. When we go out, someone seems to enter our room. It’s not room service, since the bed isn’t made and the towels aren’t changed, which we wouldn’t expect anyway. Still, things are moved or look a little different when we return, and something has gone missing. That’s unsettling and not what you want on holiday. The women making breakfast in the morning also seem quite bored when we ask for anything, even though breakfast is included. It makes it hard to feel welcome.

The staff make fresh fruit and a delicious breakfast every morning, and the location is just a two minute walk from the beach. Rooms are beautifully decorated and air conditioned, with a nice pool to cool down beside during the midday heat. The rooftop patio has an absolutely gorgeous view of the bay and surrounding area, the best around without question. This is easily the best deal when visiting San Juan Del Sur. If it’s available, book it while you can.

*BE CAREFUL IF YOU ARE CHECKING IN AT NIGHT* I booked this hotel because it said reception was open 24/7. I called to confirm and was told I could check in at 1 at night. After a 2.5-hour taxi ride, I arrived at 1AM in heavy rain, but nobody was there. I spent 30 minutes calling with no answer, then had to search for somewhere to stay at 1AM. I got lucky and found a place after an hour of looking in the rain. I went back the next morning and explained what happened to the woman there. She looked at me as if I were lying and called her manager. They refunded the first night and checked me in, but I was pissed by the attitude and the claim that the bodyguard is there all night, even after I showed them my unanswered calls. They should have at least apologized. Instead, I got attitude and no apology. Given what I went through, they should have comped the remaining nights. I won’t remove this review unless they refund everything. It was terrible, and I’ll post another review on the booking website when I get the chance. Stay away. I added screenshots of the unanswered calls to prove it. I also had a separate reservation for two more nights in the same room type. The woman said they’d have to move me because that’s what her calendar showed. The hotel was empty, and after some arguing she let me stay in the same room. I hated the service here. They make things hell for you. I won’t take this review down until I’m compensated for what I went through.
