Indoor City Camping Alkmaar

Unreal.

We had a small group, and one of us had trouble walking, but getting into the caravan was still fine, with just one step. The owner welcomed us warmly and was full of enthusiasm for the city and the indoor campsite he built himself with friends. It’s a unique “back to the 60s” idea, and we loved it. The location is top notch, just 200 meters from the city center. Alkmaar is a lovely city with great restaurants, cozy terraces and charming shops. We did some shopping, then had a glass of wine at the Waagplein that’s been recreated at the campsite. Slept wonderfully with a view over the canal, and breakfast was good. We’ll be back soon. The breakfast was amazing, super fresh and plentiful. The beds were comfortable, everything was very clean, and the welcome was really friendly. It’s a great idea, very central, and easy to reach everything on foot. Parking isn’t free at the property: you have to use the island across the road, reached by a free ferry that doesn’t run on Sundays. We also couldn’t lock our apartment, and there was no way to air it out, so it got very warm and stuffy. There’s no radio either, though there are a couple of games. The price could be a bit lower. Great for a last-minute stay if you want something different from the usual.

Breakfast was a lovely start to the day: three fresh rolls, plenty of toppings, and all for €7.50. We had a fantastic weekend, too. The place is just 300 meters from Waagplein, and we were greeted so warmly. Highly recommend it.
