The restaurant was cozy and sweet, with cats, so be careful if you’re allergic. Dinner there on Friday was okay, but nothing special, and too expensive for the quality. The people running the business seem good and put a lot of love and care into it, but my own experience fell short. I booked two nights as a walk-in on Friday afternoon, and the owner gave me a low-season discount. She did warn me about noise and offered earplugs, but the noise from the pedestrian road outside my window was unbearable. Drunks yelled and screamed until 4 am and beyond, doors slammed, and the whole house shook. I couldn’t sleep properly even with the earplugs. Maybe she didn’t realize how bad it gets, or perhaps she downplayed it. When I asked to cut my stay to one night, the owner first said she would keep a cleaning fee. I’d cleaned the place, stripped the sheets, washed the dishes properly, and only used the water cooker and toilet. I hadn’t used the towels, or taken any coffee or tea. The apartment was as I’d found it, apart from the used bed sheets. Even so, at checkout the owner wouldn’t walk upstairs for a minute to check it and refunded me only 35% of the money. Given the awful noise and the way I handled the place, I was dissatisfied with that outcome. Noise is the main issue with the rooms, at an unacceptable level, so keep it in mind if you’re planning to stay, especially on a weekend.
