Hotel Amsterdam De Roode Leeuw

I stayed here last year and would come back. The hotel was clean and nice, and although the rooms were small, they were comfortable and had everything you need. We ate breakfast in the restaurant, where I saw a manager shout at a waitress for ten minutes. She was so upset she couldn't work until she pulled herself together. It was embarrassing to watch, and I felt sorry for her. The manager should have taken her to his office instead of doing it in public. Still, I'd recommend the hotel.

The staff were amazing, especially at the front desk, where everyone was super friendly and helpful. I had a clean, comfortable superior room, and the location was very good, with access to almost every kind of public transport and tourist attractions within walking distance. They were helpful even after I'd checked out. I won't think twice about booking again when I'm back in Amsterdam.

We stayed from Sunday to Wednesday this weekend, our first time at this hotel. It was clean and beautifully presented. Room 103 was lovely, and the view of dam square and all the lights really made our stay. The weekend was spoiled by what happened to my jacket. I left it in the room when we checked out and only noticed when we returned for our luggage. It was a big fur-style jacket, so there was no room for it in my case. The receptionist checked and said it wasn't there, and that it couldn't have been the cleaner because they'd worked there for years. I asked if any other guests had checked in and was told no. I know I left it there, so the cleaner or another staff member with access must have taken it. It was such a lovely stay in a perfect location, but they didn't seem to care that my coat was gone. Don't forget anything if you stay here.

My girlfriend surprised me with a late Valentine’s getaway, and the welcome made it even nicer. Reception was excellent, and there was a sweet message waiting in our room. I’d happily stay here again for a weekend in Amsterdam.
