Amsterdam Parklane

We found a mouse in the room, then went to reception during the hours it was supposed to be staffed and no one was there. In fact, there was nobody there all day. One towel had a large hole in it, a bag of rubbish was left behind one day, and what they called cleaning was just replacing the towels, without making the bed. When we raised these problems, they literally laughed at us in one of their messages. They didn't take our complaints seriously. For what they charge per night, I think it should cost a third as much. I would never recommend staying here.

The area was decent, with tram and metro options nearby. Staff were very nice, though they didn't seem particularly knowledgeable or experienced. The bed was good, and it looks like I was upgraded from a twin. The rest of the facilities felt old, and the building clearly needs work, which they seem to be doing. The stairs are quite steep. I couldn't find check-in or check-out times online, and had to ask the hotel to confirm what seemed to be 2pm and 12pm. My website inquiry never got a reply. It's expensive for what you get, though that's just the city.

The staff were extremely kind and helpful, and we really enjoyed our stay. Just be aware that it isn't accessible for people with disabilities. The stairs are very steep and narrow, and getting our luggage up was a bit of a challenge. Our room was also warm, with the window stuck shut and no AC. Neither issue bothered us, but it's good to know beforehand.

The room was spacious, airy, and very nice, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were lumpy, though, and I hadn't expected two flights of stairs. The second flight was difficult to climb. Be prepared for the fact that there is no elevator.
