The boat is quite large and close enough to the center that getting to the places we wanted was easy. There are plenty of local places to eat nearby, too. I stayed three nights with friends and had an incredible time. Hans was friendly and helpful, and although nothing went wrong, he checked in with us from time to time to make sure everything was okay.
The private terrace right on the canal was probably the best part, with its plants and furniture. The boat itself is clean, bright, beautiful and very practically designed. The owners are nice and helpful, the welcome was perfect, and we felt safe. It's close to everything, yet you feel like a local. For me, it's the best option for staying in Amsterdam. I recommend it to everyone and will surely return soon.
This was our second stay on the funky, charming "bluewave", and I think we'll be back before long. The weather was breezy but seriously hot in the open and down the tiny side streets, so we had plenty of excuses to duck into brown bar for a Palm or three! Hans and Elizabeth were tied up, so their friend Karin came to meet us. We arrived early, but only waited two minutes before she pedalled into view and let us in. She made us feel welcome and shared excellent suggestions, especially the fabulous shipping container bar restaurant and beach across the water from the central station, reached by free ferry. Thanks again to our wonderful hosts!
The owner is really friendly and shared lots of information about what to see in Amsterdam. Blue wave houseboat is a great place to stay.
The room was small, but very clean and cozy, and had a nice view. The owner was super nice and helpful, with great recommendations for things to do nearby.
