Joy Hotel

I only needed somewhere to stay overnight before work the next day, and this was the closest available option since every other hotel was booked. I was wary after reading some reviews, but it did the job for that one night. Noise came through the walls from the next room around 2 AM, which was annoying. I was so tired that I still slept well. I'd recommend it for a short stay.

We wanted to leave before unpacking, but the staff refused to let us cancel the reservation and weren't helpful. After we complained, they showed us three different rooms. Every toilet was dirty, and some rooms had stains on the floor. The only people who seemed happy with this hotel were the sort you'd expect at a “Joy Hotel” … I definitely can't recommend it. Spend a few euros more and get an actual hotel.

We had five lovely days in Amsterdam at the Joy Hotel. Naz made check-in especially friendly and pleasant, and everything was clear and easy to follow. Bullewijk station is about a five-minute walk away, with a roughly 24-minute ride to Central Station. Thanks for the stay, and thanks again to Naz!

If you're going to the Afas or Bilmer arena, the location is the hotel's one good point. Downtown Amsterdam is a bit far, though. The place needs better cleaning and maintenance: dirty towels, blood stains, a broken ceiling, and fungus in the corners. I'm surprised by the positive reviews I saw. Check the attached pictures and decide for yourself.
