The location is brilliant and getting around is easy, but don’t expect the rooms to be spotless. Dust had built up in the corners, window sills, other nooks, and even on the hair dryer. They provide one hair and body wash, with no shampoo or conditioner. There’s one body towel and one for the shower floor, but no hand or hair towel unless you ask for extra ones. The TV only had news channels, which got a bit boring, and the bathroom is a wetroom. One of our windows was broken. Convenient for the location, though I wouldn’t have high hopes for cleanliness.

My son and I got stuck in Amsterdam during the heavy snow in January, while we were staying at Old Quarter. We extended our stay one day at a time until the snow melted and the airports, ports and other transport reopened. The staff were incredibly understanding about our uncertain plans and helped us look into buses, trains and flights. They made us feel welcome the whole time. The service and facilities were superb, and the location was excellent. We’re so grateful to everyone there for the wonderful hospitality. Thanks so much! DK, Western Australia

We had a brilliant time. Breakfast was lovely, our room was sweet and nice, and the bar was brilliant too. The hotel staff were so kind, as were the bar staff. Donna helped us out with a free upgrade. The Russian lady was really sweet, and the nice blonde girl from Holland was so lovely to us as well. I only stopped in for a few beers during happy hour, so I didn’t eat there or stay overnight. The beer wasn’t too pricey then, and the woman at the bar was friendly and easy to talk to. It’s a really nice bar in the heart of Amsterdam. I’d come back, and might even stay next time.

The lounge feels really homey, and breakfast was great. Our room was cozy with a good bathroom, and I’d stay again for a few nights. Just be aware that the stairs are narrow and the rooms can be hard to reach with a suitcase. That could be an issue if you have mobility problems. The location itself is great.
