Hotel Okura Amsterdam

The Executive Junior Suite worked really well for us with a toddler in September 2025. It was spacious and airy, had good canal views, and left plenty of room for the full-size cot. The hotel also supplied a nappy bin, changing mat, toddler toiletries and gifts. We got free breakfasts through the loyalty programme, which were good, though I wouldn’t pay full price, plus a half bottle of fizz and some pastries on arrival. The Panorama Lounge was handy for taking our little one to explore and get milk. The food there wasn’t great, but there was an okay choice of drinks in the fridge. We brought some back to the room in the evenings after our child was asleep, and no one seemed to mind. Just be aware that in September the minibar wasn’t free, despite what earlier reviews said. The nearest tram is close, though it doesn’t take a direct route to the centre. There’s a supermarket and a couple of restaurants nearby, including a good casual noodle place the staff recommended. Behind the hotel, a small city farm was a fun way to keep the kids busy while the other parent relaxed at the pool. The pool is cold for little ones, but probably a good temperature for serious swimming.

The staff were a highlight, so friendly and easy to talk to, and the restaurants were excellent. We also loved staying in south de pijp, with its charming local streets and fun places for drinks and dinner nearby. We visited in January and got into our room very early. It was large, gorgeous, and luxurious. The gym, steam room, and sauna were spotless and relaxing, and my wife said her massage was the best she’d ever had. We had an outstanding trip, and staying at the Okura Hotel made it even more memorable.

The hotel is a bit far from the city center, though public transport makes the trip manageable. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly return. Our 3-year-old was made to feel welcome, with a separate bed, sponge slippers, and baby soap. The staff were consistently helpful, professional, and friendly, and we liked having several restaurant choices in the hotel. The Panorama Room was spacious and comfortable, with beautiful views. There’s also a well-equipped gym, a relaxing spa, and a lounge where complimentary drinks and snacks were a lovely extra.

We stayed on December 26 and 27, 2025, and had a positive experience. The staff were a big reason for that, especially the reception manager. When another guest caused a problem, he took it seriously, checked things carefully, and did his best to make sure we received proper service. Breakfast had lots of options and the dining area was very clean. The building is relatively new and among Amsterdam’s tallest hotels, with a spacious lobby and large, clean rooms. It’s near metro and tram connections and sits conveniently between the airport and city center. I’d choose it again and recommend it to others.
