4/10
I disliked the place and would have given it one star. The only reason I gave two is the hotel's heritage. The stairs are terribly steep, and the reception staff were unprofessional and rude. I don't know whether my race had anything to do with their behavior. At times, it felt like walking into someone's private home.

The narrow stairs are almost vertical, and the furniture and upholstery are wonderfully quirky. Dutch MTV played Opgezwolle Hoedenplank while I was there. I'll never forget my stay. It felt quintessentially Amsterdam.

Comfortable, clean, and inexpensive, with the main attractions close by. Highly recommended.

The staff were nice and breakfast was good, and the place was clean. But the old stairs are steep and really dangerous.

Really nice place in a good area. The employees are lovely and fun to have breakfast with.
