Bridge Inn

The room was simple but fine for a short visit, and the canal-side location and view were lovely. Still, finding the address was really difficult. I ended up checking other guests' reviews to work out where to go. The stairs are extremely narrow and steep, making larger bags difficult and unsafe to carry. The room also lacks privacy, since parts of the door and side walls are glass with only thin curtains. There are no towel hooks or bars in the bathroom. I had been told there'd be no cleaning during my short stay, but one day I came back to find the trash had been taken out and a fresh bag put in, while the rest of the room hadn't been cleaned. When I asked, I was told it might have been the cleaning lady, but the floors and bathroom clearly hadn't been cleaned. Later that night I heard noises by the trash and found a mouse in the room. I wondered if the trash visit was connected to it, but it was unsettling that someone had entered without telling me first, especially with my belongings left out in the open.

If you're watching your budget, this is a good place, and the views and location are nice. It's about a 20-minute walk from Central Station. You get what you pay for, so it's basic, and the stairs really are very steep, as other reviews say. My first-floor room was quiet. The floor slanted, but the bed was comfortable and I didn't notice the slope while sleeping. The bathroom was clean and nicely done, with soap, shower gel, and toiletries, though it's odd that there are no towel hooks. I hung mine on the wardrobe doors. There was no fridge in the room, but I contacted the owner and one was supplied the next day, which was good.

The room was clean and check-in was very easy. It's a very simple hotel, but next to several popular places and a good base for exploring the city. The staircase to get inside is horrible and very steep, so take care if you have luggage or anyone with mobility issues.

We had a bridge and canal view, with a comfortable mattress and thorough housekeeping. There are plenty of good restaurants and cafes nearby. Check-in is self-service, with no hotel staff on site. There was just one outlet in the bathroom and one in the bedroom, though a power strip was provided. Getting to the room means climbing very steep, winding stairs.
