Hotel Abba

We spent two nights in a double room and found it an ideal base for a short Amsterdam visit. Smoking isn't allowed. Breakfast was served in a clean restaurant, with more than enough choices of tea, coffee, and food. A big thank you to the reception team, who were exceptionally helpful. Highly recommended!

The price was very affordable for the location and quality of service. Staff stood out as especially friendly and ready to help with questions or requests. The hotel is cozy and compact, with a warm atmosphere, and breakfast had a tasty range of options. From this convenient central spot, it was easy to reach Amsterdam's main attractions without spending much time travelling. Public transport was accessible, and bicycles were available nearby too. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

We were in Room 5, where the toilet and shower were next door and shared with four other rooms. They were kept clean. Breakfast was very good, with cereal, juice, hard boiled eggs, bread, cheese, deli meats, and coffee or tea. The hotel is centrally placed near Vondelpark, Amsterdam's largest public park, and Leidseplein, one of the city's busiest nightlife areas. It was good value, and I'd stay again. We arrived two hours before check-in, and the friendly front desk clerk let us leave our bags in the locker room while we went for a short walk. When we returned, our room was ready, half an hour before check-in. He carried my wife's bag up the narrow, very steep stairs to the third floor and found us a tea kettle to use. Other staff were also friendly and gave us ideas for things to see and places to go. Our room was clean and spacious. My wife and I had three single beds, though we only used two, so there was plenty of space. The room was well used, but the beds were clean and comfortable.

The walls are thin, so you can hear people walking around or snoring. It might be annoying if you're an early riser or a light sleeper. We went in December when it wasn't busy, though, and it didn't really bother us. The stairs are very steep, so a lot of luggage could be awkward. The room was basic, but everything was clean, including the shared bathroom, and we had no problems sharing it. The receptionists were lovely and helpful. I went with a friend for a weekend and thought it was a solid choice. Breakfast was really good, with simple things like cheese, ham, bread, granola, vegetables, and fruit. We left our bags at reception after checkout and picked them up later. When we returned in the evening, there was free coffee, tea, and chocolate in the lobby, such a nice little treat.
