Hotel Kap

We had a great weekend at hotel Kap for my niece’s birthday in Amsterdam. It’s right in the center, so we could get to lots of places on foot. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and our room was very clean. We really enjoyed the stay.

The location worked well for getting to transport and things to do, and the staff were great. The place is clean, comfortable, and felt safe. It’s a walk-up that has the feel of an actual Amsterdam row house, which made it a quaint, authentic stay. If stairs are difficult for you, or you’re after something glamorous with all the extras, this probably isn’t the right hotel.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were friendly. It’s an easy walk to the city center and very close to public transport. A cozy place with a relaxed feel. I’d stay here again.

The room was filthy and unsanitary. The floor had stains and felt sticky, there was some kind of powder on the sheets, and the toilet had urine and feces on it. There was toothpaste in the shower and hair in the toilet too. The receptionist was extremely rude and judgmental. We were left waiting outside for about 15 minutes in the bitter cold, even though we arrived before check-in ended. Then he lectured us about “decency” because we hadn’t told them our ETA, which we couldn’t do. We tried to contact reception ten minutes later, but he’d already left and couldn’t be reached. I strongly suggest people avoid booking here.
